Technology and Color: Formula E Season 8 liveries

Updated: Nov 25, 2021

With preseason testing being a week away, Formula E teams have, besides driver line-up confirmations, presented their liveries ahead of the new season, with a couple of them sporting new colors and sponsors.

With Envision Group taking the complete ownership of the previously named Envision Virgin Racing Team, during COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, the newly named Envision Racing presented their green-blue colored racing car.

Jaguar will be racing with a new title sponsor, Tata Consultancy Services, but with a more-less similar looking livery ahead of 2021/22 season. New partnership with global IT services and consulting company sparked (pun intended) a team name change to Jaguar TCS Racing.

Another team with a new title sposnor is Andretti Autosport, who have partnered with Avalanche, blockchain smart contracts platform. This new partnership, along BMW withdrawing as a manufacturer, sees the team racing in red with a simple white tape with the Avalanche logo.

NIO 333 also presented their livery, which is an evolution of last season's livery, which was, in my opinion the best looking livery on the grid. This one gives it a bit of a Virgin Racing feel, with dark blue and red accents that present the Chinese flag. Same as Andretti, NIO still haven't revealed who will be in their second car this season.

Another mostly red design, is the one of Mahindra. Partnership with ZF continues, and is similarly presented on the livery, similarly to last year. Back of the car sports a silver pattern graphic, representing the "Born EV" logo, which reflects the brand's focus and commitment to electric revolution.

And a little more red! Nissan e.dams presented their kimono-themed livery in red and black with gradient elements at the nose of the car. Their livery continues to promote nismo, Nissan's sports brand, as well as their EVs, Leaf and, the new Electric SUV, Ariya.

DS Techeetah will be keeping their team colors, black and gold, with DS Automobiles branding. The livery itself has another added design element, with a paired lines motif on every panel where color changes from gold to black and vice-versa.

This is it when it comes to liveries presented so far. We are looking forward to see which interesting designs will come next...
